The mission of the PWCN is to promote the economic independence of employed single moms seeking to expand their career, job, business venture, personal networks, resources, and tools that support their desire to thrive in work and life.

What: The Professional Woman’s Career Network is a professional group that provides a support system to working single moms. Support may include, but are not limited to, access to jobs, skill matching, purposeful coaching, mentoring, and networking, as well as business development.

Why: Research indicates that single moms face different types of barriers to upward mobility in the workplace. Biases and the lack of resources personally and professionally hinder these women more so than other population groups. These barriers also contribute to the lack of resources for single moms who strive to become business owners. PWCN is an initiative to help mitigate or eliminate these challenges.

Audience: PWCN was formed to support past residents of The Drake House, The Drake Village, and single moms that have faced financial obstacles in the past.

Format: PWCN will conduct quarterly meetings hosted by sponsor companies in their place of business. Childcare and light refreshments will be provided. Virtual meetings will be conducted until face to face is appropriate.

As an Employer, You Can Help PWCN in One of the Following Ways:

– Free or discounted training, career development, and business courses.

– Apprenticeship opportunities

– In-kind meeting space, gift cards/SWAG/incentives/door prizes

– In-kind graphic design, printing, and reproduction of manuals

– Community service projects

– Financial support
